If you are one of the thousands of paintball enthusiast roaming around the web, you will have definitely heard of TechPB, and the success it has grown into. Starting as a small web show, hosted by Mike Phillips, on youtube dedicated to educating new players that have entered the sport. It now has grown into a popular youtube channel with a large cult following.
It is a driving force behind the paintball community, and is even investing back into it to keep the sport alive. But on to the topic at hand, Marker Bids, a new auction website created by the group over at TechPB. This site allows you to buy paintball equipment for dirt-cheap which sounds to good to be true, and you are partially right.
the way this website works is, a product (brand new) up for auction will start at $0.00. Every time a registered bidder places a bid on it, the auction will increase by one cent and the timer will add thirty seconds to the countdown. Many winning bidders are walking away with air tanks, paintball guns, apparel and loaders for under thirty dollars, which is unheard of prices in paintball.
How might you ask are the people over at TechPB doing this without going bankrupt? Well the catch is every bid costs a dollar (USD), so bidding wisely is a necessary thing; otherwise you could end up losing money than saving it. A Ninja air tank might only cost $150 dollars to buy, but if Mike has 947 people bid on it he gains more than six times the profit, and some lucky person walks away with a tank for $9.47 plus the money they spent on bidding for the auction. Pretty ingenious plan, to help keep the expenses low, of maintaining a massively popular web show and supporting his team to events. So if you are looking to purchase some cheap gear, check out Marker Bids, just be wise with your bids and have fun with it.
